its Black and Yellow and likes flowers

This is a Giant Swallowtail, an occasional visitor to the northeast.  It looks a lot like ...
The Tiger Swallowtail which is usually around for the summer.

Clearwings and Cicadas

Yet another Blue Heron in a tree where they just don't belong.
Thisw is the 3rd Hummingbird Clearwing moth I have seen in the last 5 years.  They are so neat because they are about the size of a Hummingbird and hoover over a plant like a Hummingbird.
I have heard Cicadas all my life but this is the first in "digital" history I have seen to photograph.  It was in the tree next the driveway when Grenville and I got home from our walk.

Animals and a flower

Deer in velvet that just wondered off so I didn't get a better shot.
I think AAA is going to use this Rabbits ears for future roadmaps
This is wild Mountain Bluet.  It goes by many other names so you may know by some other  name

Who

This is not a great shot technically, but to me it is super ... it is the first Owl I have seen and photographed.  As I walked around the swamp area I looked back at the tree and saw a second Owl sitting up higher.  WOW how great.

Flying stuff

Bumble bee goes about her work.
Lots of Herons today both Blue and Green.  We upset this guy but later ...
He landed and we surprised him hunting.
The Baltimore Oriole hiding in the shade of the bushes.

Another WAY too hot day

I had to get this - Grenville doesn't realize he is swimming.  Had realized it he would have stopped instantly He hates to swim. But it was too hot to stop feeling gooood.

Along the Trolly trail

This is a different Green Heron from the other day which is kind of funny since I haven't seen any most of the spring and summer.
I ahve not seen many butterflies this year so getting a picture of this Viceroy is great.
A couple turtles just basking on a log in intense heat  today.  They say it might hit 100° F today with a dewpoint over 70° F.
