Fall starts ... again ( actually the first time this year)

Some of the leaves are changing making the swamp start to look like fall ... way too early.

I almost had the Skunk ...

I was taking this picture of the Yellow Jewelweed when Grenville started baying and thought I had better go see ...
The young Skunk was trying to get into a defensive position as Grenville tried to attack. The picture is not great because I had a flash unit in one hand and the camera in the other at the same time screaming at Grenville to get away from such a dangerous animal. We are currently trying the peroxide, baking soda, dish soap solution rather than the tomato juice solution.

Birds of a feather

This female Cardinal was skawaking on even after the male was several trees down the line.
A Reb Bellied Woodpecker was looking in the dead trees for a tasty morsel.

At the same time Spike, the Green Heron, was hunting for frogs legs. Or looking for a good barber.

More pix from Up North ...

A very close up of a very friendly White Admiral which landed on the camera (no pictures because I couldn't bend the camera around) and generally became a camp follower.
This is the whole White Admiral
The view from Long Pond Mountain toward our campsite. This is a merge of several shots giving the panoramic view.
Looking back up to Long Pond Mountain from our launch point (our campsite is not visible from the mountain.)
One view from the campsite.

This mornings(010 Aug 12) sunrise from the campsite. ( The pictures are quick and dirty because I have not put them in Photoshop to improve to look.)
How to start the day ... repeat several times.
A dog tired from the climb up the local mountain.
