Green frog and butterflies

The Green Frog looking for dinner in the swamp.
A little Pearly Crescentspot is one of the few butterflies around this year.
Along with a very few Viceroys

Fall starts ... again ( actually the first time this year)

Some of the leaves are changing making the swamp start to look like fall ... way too early.

I almost had the Skunk ...

I was taking this picture of the Yellow Jewelweed when Grenville started baying and thought I had better go see ...
The young Skunk was trying to get into a defensive position as Grenville tried to attack. The picture is not great because I had a flash unit in one hand and the camera in the other at the same time screaming at Grenville to get away from such a dangerous animal. We are currently trying the peroxide, baking soda, dish soap solution rather than the tomato juice solution.

Birds of a feather

This female Cardinal was skawaking on even after the male was several trees down the line.
A Reb Bellied Woodpecker was looking in the dead trees for a tasty morsel.

At the same time Spike, the Green Heron, was hunting for frogs legs. Or looking for a good barber.

Rain delay

Things are really slow while it rains.
