Wild Flowers in the Park

I took this Purple Trillium while sliding down the hillside backwards - it rained last night and boy, do the leaves get slippery

I'll have to look back to last years pix to find out what these are

They taste like chicken

I don't really know because I have never eaten Wood Duck or Northern Water Snake. This is the way I usually see Woodies flying like hell to get away. The Northern is usually just a flash, but I think I cought him in the open so he tried to be a stick in the path because he didn't have a hole near by.

Spring is going like 60 (mph I think )

I was amazed to see this Trillium up this high. I looked here less than a week ago and nothing.
Spring goes racing along at break neck speed (it's going like 60 ) and bringing out everything including the Daffodils.

Boids

The Blue Heron sits on the tree top looking for a shore dinner. The spring peepers are going wild, so he should have plenty to eat.
This King Fisher dove into the water but I couldn't see if he came up with anything.
Just hangin' out. (a Downey Woodpecker).

A hot day in April

It's 80*F and not even noon. The spring flowers are starting to burst forth.
The cute Turkey Vulture was sitting on the telephone pole just waiting for Grenville to kill something. Unfortunately Grenville isn't very good at catching stuff. So the vulture flew off to other areas.

Northern Water Snake

But first a Red-bellied Woodpecker beats the woods.

This guy is just out of winter storage and warming up slowly. He is gray rather than almost black because he will shed his skin soon.
