It was a cloudy day with some rain around. I took this opportunity to take some flash pictures using the camera and flash unit set to manual and the flash hand held off camera. The top picture is using natural light. The bottom used the flash low and to the left set to 1/16 power and the camera set to 250 sec/f14.
I have finally gotten a picture of a Green Heron (Butorides virescens) which actually shows why it is called Green (hope you can see the green feathers on your monitor). I have many pictures of these guys and none show the green back feathers so I have always thought it was misnamed.
This Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus lubovicianus) got within an easy putt. I think that is lunch leftovers on his beak. This is a mature Grosbeak where yesterday's was immature.
The tiny Pearly Crescentspot (Phyciodes tharos) has been flitting about lately but rarely settles down for a portrait session .
Once again we were down in the swamp letting the mud ooze up between our toes and coating our legs and stomachs in black muck with the smell of a refrigerator after a week of power outage . Ok, actually Grenville, the dog, was doing that not me but he was having fun. 
I love the color combinations of this bird - a young Rose-breasted Grosbeak (Pheucticus ludovicianus)
I have always wondered what the inspiration was for the Corinthian Columns. I think I have found it.
The Mt Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY is home to such notables as Susan B Anthony, Fredrick Douglass, George Seldon first to patented automobile, et al. We were there working on a Geocache, but it is still very interesting to see and walk around. Hattie's marker is one that really cought my attention and must show she had a sense of humor.
