Birds; Bird
This is a real sign of spring the male Red-Wing Black birds have returned to the swamp at the south end of Canandiagua lake. They will spend the next couple weeks getting everything perfect for the woman when they arrive. I didn't see or hear the guys on our walk, only when I returned to the car so they may have just arrived on the 11:07 flight from Florida.
This Red-Tailed Hawk is looking for a small furry lunch and is hoping the Red wing Black birds don't get in the way.

Signs of spring
Not quite sure what this Wooly Bear is trying to tell us about this winter, but I think it means we will have a mild one. It was crossing the trial on a cool morning in the sun.

Geocaching Sunday
We went Geocaching today and these are some of the devious things we found
The cache is the orange thing held by a string to the stopper which plugged the hole in the stump ... insidious.
Bark is glued to the match container making it need invisible in the woods.

Fox in the road
A fox on the trail means that we have to turn around and go back before Grenville sees or smell it. That would lead to a chase of several miles and 1/2 hour or more.

A warm winter day
The skunk cabbage is skipping the flower stage and going directly to leaf this year.
Goldeneye are hanging around the ice on the end of the lake. No fisherman to scare them off because the ice is too thin to go out on.

350 million years ago ...
I think I remember seeing this guy in the museum or Invertebrate Zoology class. Fortunately they died out 350 million years ago. Actually it is a pattern in the ice.
It is mid-February therefore I should show snow. That's Bristol Mtn Ski resort and man made snow
I included this so you would know what the next shot is.
The picnic table.

Ground hog day
We looked all around but no sun for the ground hog to see his shadow. I think this means 6 more weeks of winter regardless of the woodchuck. Also note the total lack of snow any where.
